Proaim Orion Overview

Create smooth pan and tilt moves using heavy camera rigs with this Orion Geared Head from Proaim. The Orion head features manual pan and tilt crank gears that are weighted within the head, and they can be controlled by a switch to uncrank in fast or slow modes. Simply crank up your pan and tilt gears to match your shot, and let the counterweight and speed setting move your rig in one smooth, even movement.

Lightweight Yet Powerful

A classic among tripod head types, Proaim Orion geared head has introduced a new level of motion control in the field of cinema gear. Our gearhead makes no negotiations in terms of features, reliability, or performance, thereby aiming for the precise fluid pan and tilts. Furthermore, its solid and lightweight aluminum-crafted body accommodates a range of professional cameras weighing up to 55 lb.

Fluid Pan and Tilt Moves

Our Orion Head owns a panning range of 360° and a 35° tilt range, along with the privilege of precise marking for perfect tilt. You can pan or tilt it in either direction using the manual pan and tilt cranks. Since these cranks are counterbalanced weighted cranks, you can rest the crank where exactly you left it, and we have created a separate pan and tilt lock, so you operate the pan and tilt it individually if you want.

Precision Adjustment

With micron-level precision on each and every gear, this Gear Head provides close to zero backlashes in all movements. Over the past 18 months, we went back to the drawing board and redesigned all of its gearboxes to ensure there was no play/backlash in any movement.

The Orion Geared Head performs pans, tilts, and rapid, repetitive motions accurately and swiftly in three axes, making it a must-have addition to your kit and delivering remarkably steady, smooth, and balanced shots every time.

Long-Term Performance

The design moved away from brass to gunmetal gears, ensuring a very quiet, extremely smooth movement along with extraordinary resistance to wear and tear over the years.

Selectable 2-Speed Gear

This head features two speeds that you can select from based on the shot requirements. It performs equally consistently at both speeds and is a pleasure to work with.

User-Friendly Design

The camera plate features both 1/4" -20 and 3/8" -16 camera mounting screw options.

There are two choices for base a flat Mitchell base or a 100mm half ball which can be swapped using the included tools.
