Hikvision DS-2DY3220IW-DE 2MP Outdoor PTZ Network Bullet Camera with Night Vision & Wall Mount

Like all Hikvision cameras, the camera module in this produces great video. Of course why there's a 2.0 MP camera module in a 2020 model camera is beyond me. I can get a complete 5MP Hikvision for under €100 so how much more could it have cost to give this better resolution?The camera supports up to 128GB of onboard memory for local recording - only one problem: there's no slot exposed to install the memory. According to the manual, the memory must be installed at the factory! I have dozens of Hikvision cameras and everyone of them takes an SD card and has a cover to remove to install a card. Since doesn't offer this camera with a factory installed card then it seems there's no possible way to get onboard memory so the 128GB advertised spec is at best wrong and at worst misleading or dishonest.The camera has great 360 degree PTZ rotation. On the bench, I could rotate it completely around. Of course the problem is that it is a wall-mount camera so you can't really get any more than 180 degree rotation. I inquired about a corner mount so I could get 270 degrees of rotation and was told by Hikvision and by that there is no corner mount supported for this camera. I was able to use a Hikvision mount by drilling my own holes (this camera also doesn't come with a drill template like most do) but that leads to the next issue with the cables.The camera is rated for IP66 outdoor, weather resistant, use. The problem is that only the RJ45 network connection is weather protected. The alarm, audio, and power connectors are no waterproofed in any way. The cable is so short that it won't penetrate even a standard 2x4 exterior wall (approximately 6.5 inches total depth) when mounted on the corner mount. The camera comes with concrete anchor bolts and is recommended for installation on concrete walls but if you had an 8 concrete wall you'd never have enough working room to work with this camera inside the wall. I used a PG9 bladder seal with outdoor rated network cable and the weather resistant connector supplied and just did the best I could to tape the other connectors and seal them with liquid rubber tape.I have other high-end Hikvisions (such as DS-2CD5A46G0-IZHS8, also purchased from ) where the alarm, audio, and power connectors are in the base so they get sealed with the mounting instead of the pigtail that the 100 dollar class Hikvision cameras have. For the price of this camera, it should have had the same.The camera is listed as a mini-PTZ. I have some mini-PTZs and this is about twice the size and 4 times the weight. Even so, it's a solidly built and great camera as are all Hikvisions. You should just know the limitations before spending this much money (and I bought 2) on a camera.I was able to work around all of the shortcomings except the onboard memory card. Actually, I am still trying to set up an NFS share to let the camera record to, in addition to multiple other recording mechanism - all my cameras are recorded at least twice locally and once online. I'm struggling with an error that the camera errors, failing to format the NFS drive, but I haven't yet given up on that.Bottom line: if you need 180 degree pan, no onboard storage card, have thin walls or very heavy duty mounting boxes, it's a great camera. If you're willing to work through all the other issues, it's a good camera. If neither of those apply to you I recommend other mini-ptz cameras.
