Hikvision EKI-K82T46 Overview

Monitor your property with the EKI-K82T46H 8-Channel 8MP NVR with 2TB HDD & Six 4MP Night Vision Turret Cameras Kit from Hikvision. This NVR enables you to record from and manage up to 8 cameras. It is equipped with a SATA port that supports an HDD up to 8TB (2TB preinstalled). H.265+, H.265, H.264+, and H.264 video codecs keep file sizes manageable while maintaining the best quality possible. Two-way audio communication is supported.

The included turret cameras capture 2560 x 1440 resolution video at 20 fps from a 2.8mm fixed lens that delivers a 98° horizontal field of view. The cameras have a night vision range up to 98`, along with a supplemental white light that provides up to 98` of illumination for recording full-color video in low-light conditions. They are rated IP67 for outdoor use.

I'm a security professional of over 25 years. Dealt with many manufacturers and cameras. This package is very good. Images are really good and if you know what you're doing, you can get a lot out of it. To many people give reviews without knowing what that are doing, such as a recent review of multi view showing fuzzy. Most NVRS and HD DVRS downscale the resolution when viewing multiple cameras at the same time. This is to save on your networks bandwidth. It takes a lot of bandwidth to handle all the cameras with maxed settings being viewed at same time and many phones and networks works freeze up. That's why it lowers the resolution with multi screen and when you click on one camera, it brings the resolution to Max that's programmed. I say programmed, because the apps themselves all have HD and standard resolution viewing that you need to specify. This is incase you're limited on Internet speed in your location. Each camera also has it's own individual programming, where you can log into the camera itself using a laptop or you can use the program button on the wire lead of many cameras to access it's own menu to increase resolution and many other things such as backlight compensation or Wide dynamic range. On top of that your NVR or DVR has it's own program menu to specify remote viewing resolution, vrs local viewing and record resolution. It's important to do research on all the options provided with what you're getting, otherwise you're only getting 1/4 of the potential that it can do. No system out there is gonna be set perfect for your needs and maxed out with the options, out the box. It takes adjustments. Many systems are set to a happy medium out the box. If you Max the resolution, then you will Max the storage quicker and can't look back as far with playback, so they all tend to set things down the middle. This is why they give you the option of upgrading the hard drive to increase storage. So that you can Max out everything like me and look back 6 weeks.

The cameras are great. Relatively easy to install. The software and user interface is horrible. Nothing is intuitive. Resetting the system requires two to three passwords. HikVision support is horrible. Their instructional videos are junk. There has to be a better system out there for the MAC. Password reset requires their technical support. Their phone and online technical support are only for basic questions.

The cameras are OK, but the NVR is weak. When Trying to live view multiple cams on screen the video quality is terrible. I'm only using 5 of the 6 4MP cams, but for some reason 2 of the 5 are completely fuzzed out. When viewing individually, they all look pretty good. Not sure if I have a bad NVR or if it's just a badly matched kit. What I do know is, my customer isn't happy with this equipment. I'll have to eat the cost of replacing it with something decent. B H Photo is great. This kit isn't so good

Budget system with quality components. Cameras give a good, clear picture. NVR is simple to operate, and has enough storage for most applications. All around great deal!

NVR is good, image quality is good but there is no night vision on the cameras so they have just LED lights mini projections that are just defeating the purpose of having security cameras they are just bright objects on the roof saying hello I am a camera be aware better get different cameras that has better resolution and night vision w/o the bright lights.

This device is decent for a low end solution, but it was returned based on hikvision no longer supporting firmware updates which creates problems when connecting to hik-connect and ivms-4200/4500. I was also bummed to see that the hdmi output on this 4k NVR only supported 1080p resolution. That said, both and Hikvision have been incredibly supportive during tech-support and the return process, so I've happily purchased an upgraded replacement through them.
