Hikvision DS-7608NI-Q2/8P 8-Channel 4K UHD NVR with 2TB HDD

The fan has a loud high pitch, so loud I cannot work in the same room. HIKVISION Phone Tech support is the worst, email support just as bad. Find someone that supports their product before you buy. The software lacks some adjustments that older unit had seems like they tried to dumb it down.

I purchased this NVR with 7 HikVision ColorVu cameras. While the cameras do have nice images, it's hard to express just how bad this solution is. There are multiple different user interfaces, each with different capabilities. Some things need to be done on the camera, some on the NVR, but there is no indication which. Many of the features just don't work. There is no documentation for the overall solution. Much of the component documentation is out of date. Hikvision will not provide technical support. Hikvision may work well if a trained systems integrator sets it up and maintains it, but it is not viable for an individual. I have a masters degree in electrical engineering and 20 years of experience in the tech industry and can't figure out how to get this solution to actually work.

Save your money this was a big disappointment. It was RMA'd after over 12 hours were wasted trying to get the unit to recognize the motion detection capability of my third party onvif capable cameras. The Cameras had worked fine on an a much cheaper lower capability Amcrest NVR that this unit was intended to replace. This is a great example of a company trying to shut out their competition by purposefully blocking functionality from a competitors products Hik-vision will not be getting any of my future business. Last comment is on a major and all too common concern. I'll never leave anything connected to my network that does not allow for the deletion of the default admin account it was shipped with, that is a HUGE security risk. This NVR falls into that category, it will ask for a new password when first booted but the admin name account cannot be deleted from the user accounts listing. Might as well have a flashing neon sign saying this way in

Bought Hikvision NVR on amazon and had nothing but issues. I called tech support and told me that one I had wasn't made in the U.S. Returned that one and purchased this and it's been great, no offline, no rebooting. I would suggest this NVR!

Ive installed camera systems for 8 years. there are better there are cheaper, this is great balance of price and quality. easy set up easy daily use. You dont need to be a technician to use this system.
