Pyle Pro PDA6BU Stereo Receiver with Bluetooth

The receiver sounds good enough. I put a bit of black tape over the blinding LED power indicator so I could still sleep in my home and then it was fine. I was looking forward to using the FM receiver on this, but there is no tuning knob, and the remote doesn't work either. There are limited instructions for it in the very bad owner's manual, but they don't correspond to the actual operation of the remote. Additionally, Pyle offers an iPhone app that is supposed to let you set presets and stuff, but the app does not work at all. It opens, displays a Pyle logo, and that's it. I wish I had shopped more and bought something else, but the price was very low so it's not a tragedy.

I use the PDA6BU in my office to play back-ground music and it does an excellent job. Bluetooth is cool, and the FM radio is a nice option. I wish the two mic inputs had panning so I could enjoy stereo sound when testing new mixers with balanced outputs, but no, mono only. Great bargain for .70, would recommend.

Had several boom box type devices before this and the sound quality is excellent with a nice set of speakers. This model is a great buy with great sound quality.

A nicely built budget amp and USB / SD player.My several decades in the audio field indicates to me this unit is not 100 or 200 Watts output. From the power supply and output heat sink I would say it is more like 35 Watts RMS per channel, still enough to drive most consumer speakers to their max capability. The controls are nicely spaced on the panel and have a quality feel to them. Sound quality for the mids and highs are great but I feel it is a bit lacking in Bass. It would have been an advantage to include a loudness control or bass boost button on this amp. The 2 front panel Mic inputs should please Karoke fans and sing a long enthusiasts. The well written user manual states the USB / SD is for MP3 and WAV formats. All of my USB's are in WMA and this amp has no problem playing them. I am very pleased with this unit and at this price I even bought a second one. If you are going to use this with a turntable with a magnetic cartridge you will have to add an external pre amp unless one is built into your turntable. It comes with a 90 day warrantee, if you want to take advantage of a 1 yr ( no additional charge ) warrantee you must register your purchase with Pyle. See user manual for details. I am using this amp with a pair of Polk Audio M20 floor standers and a Polk Audio PW10 sub woofer to reinforce the Bass. With this combination it Really Rocks !

You have to keep in mind when reading reviews on the Pyle PDA6BU that this is a budget item. The performance however is anything but budget. This amplifier has features not often found on more expensive and high end amplifiers. I find the power rating of 200 Watts to be very overexagerated. From looking at the power supply and the output heat sink I would venture to say the realistic output would be somewhere in the range of 30 Watts per channel RMS. How they come up with 200 Watts is beyond me. Don't let this discourage you though this amplifier can give good performance with most speakers. The Universal power input ( switch selectable ) can come in handy making it able to be used anywhere in the world 120 or 230 Volt AC input. It appears to me that there is no speaker protection circuit to protect the speakers in case of a malfunction in the output circuits which could put a DC voltage to your speakers causing them severe damage. Most amplifiers these days have a sensing system to prevent DC going to the speakers either fuses or a relay circuit. The build quality inside and out is quite good for a budget item like this. The front panel controls have a nice feel to them. The speaker terminals on the rear of the unit are of good quality and offer connection of bare wire or banana plugs. There is only one speaker connection per channel if you want more than that you can always fabricate your own. For my initial test and evaluation of performance I connected a pair of Polk Audio model M20 2 way floor standing speakers connecting to the amp with 15 Ft of 18 AWG zip cord for each speaker. Pressing the power button the amp came on instantly with a soft thump in the speakers. This is typical of an amp with no speaker protection relay. I inserted a USB drive into the appropriate front panel connection with some of my favorite hit singles on it. Advancing the volume control the sound came right up. The mid and High end sound was crisp and clear and quite impressive to my ears. I like a lot of bass and even with the bass control all the way up it seemed to be lacking the heavy bass my ears crave to hear. It would have been nice if this amp had a loudness contour or bass boost feature like many other amps have. I played it for a few hours with the bass and treble controls maxed out to let my ears adjust to the sound. I must say that I was quite impressed with the overall sound of this budget amplifier. I next connected a Polk Audio PW10 powered sub woofer to give me the amount of Bass that I like and sure enough, this brought up the Bass to my liking which is enough to make my windows rattle. The instruction manual which I feel is quite well written states that the USB / SD function will only support MP3 and WAV formats. All of my USB drives are in WMA format as I make them with Windows Media Player from my PC and many of them seem to work flawlessly in the PDA6BU. Some however do have problems playing such as cutting out or coming to a complete stop or repeating the same song over and over. I guess I will have to learn how to make them in MP3 format but for now at least I can play most of what I have and that was the primary reason for me buying this unit. There are 2 RCA plugs on the rear panel for connection of additional line lever audio sources. There is no Phono input. If you are using a magnetic cartridge an additional external pre-amp will be required. There are also 2 RCA plugs on the rear panel for Line Level sound output. These can be especially useful to connect to a distribution system or to connect a recording device such as a CD Recorder, Tape Recorder etc. There is also a 1/8th inch ( 3.5 mm) jack on the front panel for a line level audio input. The front panel also features 2 quarter inch phone jacks for connection of a Microphone. There is a Mic Volume control and even a variable Echo effect control. Features like this are not often found on amplifiers costing a lot more. I am sure Karoke and sing along fans will enjoy and appreciate this feature. There is a front panel input selection rotary switch , a function / track selector switch and of course the traditional Bass, Treble, Volume and Balance controls. Push buttons for changing tracks, shuffle play, mode and pause. FM performance is decent with the supplied single wire antenna although for best performance I would recommend using a folded dipole indoor antenna or for best possible performance an outdoor FM antenna. I have not yet explored the functions of the remote control as I seldom use them anyway. I am not familiar with bluetooth so I can not really comment on that I. I would have given this item 5 stars but I am going to give it 4 because of lack of a bass boost function and what appears to be no speaker protection circuit and not supporting WMA format. In summary I am very pleased with this Amplifier, good quality, many useful functions and controls not often found on more expensive units. At the price, I have ordered a second one to use on another system. I am very pleased. It is a Budget priced item but not budget in features, quality and overall performance.

It works good for what I wanted it. Not so great when you increase volume, it said it delivers 100 watts per speaker, I am not too sure.
