Focal Dome Flax Overview

The black D me Flax 5.1 Surround Sound System with Sub Air Wireless Subwoofer from Focal consists of five D me Flax satellite speakers with Sub Air wireless subwoofer and is designed to be a compact, but high-performing surround sound speaker system. Made from high-gloss lacquered aluminum, the refined and seamless design of the D me Flax satellite blends well into any living space. The Focal exclusive Flax woofer offers rich, natural sound with low coloration and the inverted dome aluminum / magnesium tweeter provides accurate treble with low directivity. The D me satellite features a multi-directional design allowing it to be fitted to a wall, the ceiling, or a stand with equal ease. The Sub Air wireless subwoofer features a low-profile and 50 ft wireless range for easy room placement. All Focal speakers are developed and manufactured in France by Focal.

Exclusive Focal Technologies

The D me Flax satellite speaker benefits from the innovative composite sandwich cone made with natural flax. It has already proved its worth with the high-fidelity Aria 900 loudspeakers and the Car Audio kits in the Performance range. The Flax technology offers a distinct improvement in definition and better linearity in frequency response over other composite cones. The D me also includes an aluminum / magnesium inverted dome tweeter, another Focal exclusive.

Flax Cone Woofer

The flax cone are made in France exclusively by Focal since 2013. With their original design, the cone are entirely oriented towards acoustic performance. They are made of high quality flax fiber enclosed by two thin layers of glass fiber. Flax cone are characterized by their natural sound, with low coloration, their richness of reproduction in the midrange register and their tighter bass. The lightness of the fiber satisfies the criteria of high internal damping, high velocity, and high flexural rigidity. Flax is twice as light as fiberglass, because the fiber is hollow. It also has very low elasticity which makes it ideal to increase the flexural rigidity of a sandwich structure.

Multi-Directional

D me is at the forefront of innovation. This speaker is multi-directional and can be fitted to a wall, the ceiling or a stand with equal ease. Its round shape is ideal to avoid internal resonances that distort the purity of timbers. Observe it well, everything is smooth, no visible screw, even the complicated system of joints on pivot is perfectly integrated and beyond suspicion. Imagined as a swivelling sound spot, D me becomes an ideal music source for each and every room from 320 to 430 ft².

Sub Air

The Focal Sub Air features a ported bass-reflex cabinet with an 8" woofer driven by a 110W RMS BASH amplifier. The wireless technology makes integration into interiors easy, allowing for a wireless range of approximately 50 ft within the same room as the transmitter. The flat and compact design allows you to fit into all kinds of spaces, it can even be wall mounted if desired. Easy to use and install, Sub Air is the ideal solution to make the bass of your audio and Home Cinema 5.1 miniatures systems complete and dynamic.
